João Vitor Costa Dias is a composer for concert music and media from Porto Alegre, Brazil. As a drummer, João developed a rich and eclectic music background from popular music before he ventured into the realm of /contemporary classical and cinematic styles/.
In 2018, João started his undergraduate studies at Berklee College of Music, in Boston, graduating five years later with a double major degree in Film Scoring and Composition, with an additional minor in Video Game Scoring. Amongst his most memorable experiences, João had the opportunity to conduct student orchestras both in a studio and in a traditional rehearsal environment, developing a better understanding of orchestration and teamwork in the music-making process. Furthermore, João was awarded by both departments (Film Scoring and Composition) in 2022 for his compositional work.
As his next step, João moved to Spain to continue his studies at Berklee Valencia, with a master's degree in Scoring for Film, TV, and Video Games. Recently, he had the opportunity to collaborate with and conduct professional musicians, such as soloists of the Orquestra da la Comunitat Valencia and the Budapest Art Orchestra.
In addition to his work as a composer, João has also worked as a / music director, arranger, drummer, and music educator /, both as a certified tutor at Berklee and as a children’s music teacher. João currently lives in Madrid.
